Norfolk Lions club to host annual fishing day for young anglers
NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) — The Norfolk Lions Club is set to host its annual Fishing Day for young anglers aged three to thirteen at Sky-view Lake on June 7, offering over 600 prizes. The free event aims to connect with the community and support the youth, according to Norfolk Lions Club member Leon Sweigard.
"We do this to build a relationship with the community," Sweigard said. "One of our key markers is to connect and help the youth of this generation. So, we hope many show up, have a good time, and will be ready to win a prize."
The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants do not need to sign up; they can simply show up and fish. A parent and child can arrive when the park opens, but no poles should be put in the water until a horn signals the start. Boats are not allowed.
Kids will have the opportunity to win at least one prize, with a limit of three per child. Prizes include gift cards, fishing poles, and fishing tackle.
