Staff finishes processing more than 60 detainees at Lincoln County Detention Center

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Personnel at the Lincoln County Detention Center finalized processing more than 60 detainees from last week’s Ice Operations in South Omaha, Monday morning.
The process was part of the national effort to curb illegal immigration and reduce violent crime. Sixty-four of the 76 detainees were moved to the Lincoln County Detention Center last Thursday evening.
“We took in 64 immigrants last week, we finally finished up the booking and the laundry, and we’re getting everybody placed early this morning. It’s pretty full, and the staff is pretty stressed, and we have staff quit because they don’t want to work,” Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer said at Monday’s Lincoln County Commissioners meeting.
Sheriff Kramer stressed that without the assistance of Lincoln County non-profit, Hope-Esperanza, bookings would have continued well into this work week.
“My only concern is I wish they had a facility closer to Omaha, but there is no better facility in the State of Nebraska in my opinion than your facility over there, and the staff that you have there to be able to take care of them,” said District Four Lincoln County Commissioner Chris Bruns.
