A four-year-old Mitchell boy has been flown to a Denver hospital after a lawn mowing accident severed his foot.

MITCHELL, Neb. (KNOP) - A four-year-old Mitchell boy has been flown to a Denver hospital after a lawn mowing accident severed his foot.

According to the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after noon Sunday, they received a report that a four-year-old boy’s foot was severed in a lawn mower accident near Mitchell.

An off-duty medical professional was nearby and rendered aid immediately. The boy was flown to Regional West Medical Center and then a hospital in Denver for treatment.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation shows that the event was an accident and no criminal charges are expected to be filed.
