NORFOLK, Neb.-- A Norfolk man is in jail after police say he assaulted them during an arrest.

25-year-old Andrew Carreon was arrested early Wednesday in Norfolk.

Police say they were investigating multiple thefts and saw Carreon dragging a suitcase believed to hold stolen items.

Officers say while trying to restrain Carreon, he tossed a stolen nine-millimeter handgun.

Police say Carreon later attacked an officer while being removed from the vehicle at the Police station

He faces felony assault and weapon charges among others.

Carreon is currently housed in the Madison County jail.
