BENNET, Neb. — A southeast Nebraska community is raising money for a local family after the tragic death of a 7-year-old boy.

25% of the proceeds made by the Bean Box Coffee Shop on Wednesday went directly to the Kohl family.

Seven-year-old Charles Kohl died this week in a UTV crash.

Owners said the steady stream of people looking to support the family showed no signs of slowing, even before they officially opened their doors.

Meanwhile, the Pastry Savant bakery in Roca also donated to the family an amount equal to the Bean Box’s sales.

There’s also an online fundraiser for the family that was approaching $40,000 raised as of Thursday morning.
