RAYMOND, Neb. — Authorities have identified a 70-year-old man found dead in a house fire earlier this week.

Firefighters located the body of Gerald F. Socha inside a home just west of Raymond gutted by flames late Monday night, Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said. Socha was the lone resident and 911 caller.

Socha's body was identified using dental records.

Two dogs also were rescued from the burning home, which was destroyed in the fire. The dogs were taken to a local shelter after being treated for smoke inhalation.

The State Fire Marshal has determined the cause of the fire to be faulty electrical components.
