As expected the Attorney General has filed a lawsuit looking to block Omaha’s new mask mandate.
The mandate, issued by Douglas County Health Director Lindsay Huse, went into effect early Wednesday.
Late Wednesday, Attorney General Doug Peterson asked the Douglas County District Court to stop the mandate arguing among other things that it violates state law.
Among those subpoenaed to testify are Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert and Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer.
The hearing is set for Monday, January 24 at 10 a.m. before District Court Judge Shelly Stratman.
The mandate is due to expire in four weeks.
