Tomek named to Slovakian National Hockey Team

OMAHA, Neb. -- A former athlete from the University of Nebraska-Omaha will be representing Slovakia at the upcoming Winter Olympics.
Goaltender Matej Tomek was named to the Slovakian Hockey National Team yesterday, marking his first time representing his country at the Olympics.
Before attending UNO, Tomek spent time with the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL and with the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
He was a member of the 2016 Fighting Hawks NCAA Championship team.
Tomek spent the 2018-2019 hockey season with the Mavericks appearing in five games. He registered zero wins, one loss, a 4.73 goals against average, and a .845 save percentage.
Since then, he has played professional hockey in Slovakia, Finland, and the Czech Republic.
Tomek was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round of the 2015 NHL Draft.
