Jim Pillen, one of the top Republican candidates for governor, has a new TV ad and he's on the attack.

But not against any of his GOP opponents, no Pillen is going after President Biden and his handling of the pandemic.

Sounding a lot like Governor Pete Ricketts, who endorsed Pillen this week, the ad accuses Biden of being out of touch.

The ad never mentions any of Pillen's five GOP opponents, but earlier this week Pillen did talk about one of those rivals when he was asked what differentiates him from Charles Herbster, who's been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Here's part of those comments (full audio above along with excerpt from TV ad):

Pillen: "There's some really simple facts that make things different between myself and Charles.

Number one: I've lived in the state of Nebraska my entire life. I've been out of the state for four years when I got my doctorate in veterinary medicine at Kansas State and would have gotten it here if we'd have had a veterinary college at the time.

Number two: Suzanne and I have been raising children for 40 years we have a family and seven grand babies. If you don't have a family it doesn't make you a bad person but it's a distinct, significant difference in how you view life when there's more to the world than just you."
