Council Bluffs Man Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
A Council Bluffs man was sentenced today in federal court to 15 years imprisonment for the conspiracy to distribute and possess 50 grams or more of actual methamphetamine.
The United States Attorney Jan Sharp announced that 38-year-old Vance Campbell, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was sentenced today in federal court to 15 years’ imprisonment.
He was sentenced with the conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of actual methamphetamine with one prior serious drug felony.
Following his release from prison, Campbell will serve 10 years on supervised release.
Officers saw Campbell at a gas station in Omaha and were aware that he had a warrant, and arrested him. A K-9 officer indicated the odor of narcotics on Campbell’s vehicle and after a subsequent search, officers found 189 grams of actual methamphetamine and $4,189.
Campbell had a prior serious drug felony conviction for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in the District of Nebraska in 2003, for which he served 168 months in federal prison.
As a result of this prior conviction for a serious drug felony, he faced a statutory minimum sentence of 15 years.
This case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department.
