HIGHLIGHTS: Roncalli beats Skutt, wins first title since 1996
LINCOLN - For the first time since 1996, the Crimson Pride are state champs.
One seed Skutt and two seed Roncali met in the state title for Class-B on Friday afternoon.
A fast start, one that got Roncalli out front 8-1 in the first two minutes, forced a timeout by Skutt head coach Kyle Jurgens. After the timeout, Skutt would hit two straight triples, all of a sudden, it was a one point game.
However, a dozen first half points from Quincy Evans helped Roncalli take their largest lead of the game into the break, as they led 24-18 after 16 minutes.
They would continue to build on their lead in the second half, amplifying the defensive intensity even more. They would go on to win 52-37.
Skutt was led in scoring by James Gninefou with 16 and Grant Dvorak with 15. Those two made up 84% of the Skyhawks scoring. Roncalli was led by Jake Orr with 12 and Quincy Evans with 16.
