BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Nebraska State Sen. Carol Blood has advanced to the general election as the Democratic nominee for governor. Blood will face Republican nominee Jim Pillen in the November general election.

"Nebraskans from all over our state are sick and tired of this us vs them narrative they've experienced over the last two decades and ready for leadership that brings everyone to the table for a better Nebraska," Blood said Tuesday night. "They are sick of the lies and half-truths told to them by politicians. From the big lie on why property taxes are so high in our state to never addressing long-festering issues such as our prison overcrowding."

Blood is serving her second term in the Nebraska Legislature. Prior to serving at the state level, Blood served eight years on the Bellevue City Council where she helped save taxpayers tens of millions of dollars with pragmatic and sensible ideas.

"My campaign has a plan and we started sharing our plan as soon as we came out of the gate," Blood said. "We didn't tweak our message or hoped Nebraskans would forget some of the things said at the beginning of the campaign. We've stood strong in intent to craft a better Nebraska for all no matter who they are, where they live, what they look like or where they come from."

The general election will be held in Nebraska on Tuesday, November 8.
