Omaha police have identified the active shooter suspect who terrified a West Omaha Target store yesterday before police shot and killed him; no one else was hurt.
According to police, 32-year-old Joseph Jones of suburban Omaha bought the AR-15 military assault style rifle just four days earlier from a Cabela’s store.
We’re also told that the officer who killed Jones is Brian Vanderheiden, a 20-year veteran, who is now on paid administrative leave.
OPD has also released seven still images (view them above] of the incident, including photos of Jones inside and outside the store. No police body-worn camera has been made available.
The investigation is ongoing.
