Motorcycle accident leaves one dead in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. -- A motorcycle and vehicle accident resulted in one person dying in Omaha.
The Omaha Police Department said officers were dispatched to 26th St. and L St. at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday for a reported injury crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.
Officers said a 2009 Harley Davidson was traveling west on L St. and a 2021 Chevy Silverado was traveling east on L St. The Chevy reportedly turned left onto the Highway 75 on ramp and hit the motorcycle.
According to authorities, the motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital by medics with the Omaha Fire Department and later died. The driver of the motorcycle was reportedly 45-year-old Gary Mangiameli, of Omaha.
Officials said the driver of the Chevy was a 38-year-old woman from Missouri. She was reportedly booked for failure to yield right of way, refusal of a preliminary breath test, refusal of a DUI test, DUI, and motor vehicle homicide.
The accident is currently under investigation.
