With former President Donald Trump back in New York where he’ll appear in court today, the first former president charged with a crime, we’re hearing from Nebraska’s two United States Senators.

And Republicans Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts sound as if they are singing from the same song book.

According to Ricketts, the justice system is being weaponized by Democrats.

Ricketts, who disagreed with Trump during the last governor’s race in Nebraska when Trump did not back Ricketts’ choice Jim Pillen, calls the indictment against Trump, politically motivated.

Ricketts says it will cause Americans to lose faith in the criminal justice system.

Fischer, a long-time Trump loyalist, says with big issues like inflation, drugs and a porous border Americans are tired of politically motivated prosecutions.

With Trump’s case likely to last into next year, Fischer says the legal process will play out but she adds Trump’s highly questionable prosecution runs counter to equal justice under the law.
