Another slap in the face for Omaha City Councilman Vinny Palermo.

As we reported on Tuesday, he was stripped of his Vice-President title just as an effort to recall the two-term Democrat made its initial moves.

If that wasn’t enough the head of the Nebraska Democratic Party urged Palermo to resign. Party Chair Jane Kleeb tying Palermo to two of her favorite targets, “Whether it is Trump, Fortenberry, or now Palermo, indicted elected officials and politicians should focus on their legal issues and either resign or not run for re-election,” says Kleeb.

Yes, Tuesday was another in a series of rough days for Palermo, who heads back to Lincoln Federal Court Wednesday, asking the judge to release him from the Saunders County Jail as he awaits trial on federal kickback and fraud accusations, a trial that would be several months from now at the earliest.

As for Palermo’s role on the City Council going forward, NCN spoke with City Council President Pete Festersen, another Democrat, who is distancing himself from Palermo.
