La Vista man sentenced for selling firearm to felon

LA VISTA, Neb. -- The U.S. Attorney announced on Thursday that a 34-year-old La Vista man was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for selling a firearm to a felon.
Bryon Bruckner was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Thursday in federal court in Omaha for selling a firearm to a felon. He will be serving this consecutive to his Apr. 19, 2022 sentence of 12 to 14 years for attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child.
After his federal sentence is complete, Bruckner will start a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
Court documents said that on Mar. 3, 2022, Bruckner, while awaiting sentencing in his state case, sold a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confidential source (and convicted felon) a Walther 9mm handgun.
The illegal sale took place in the driveway of Bruckner’s residence in LaVista.
The confidential source told Bruckner that he/she was a felon before Bruckner sold the confidential source the gun and yet Bruckner still made the sale. The court said the sale was audio and video recorded.
