It’s official, the high six-figure South Omaha home of ousted City Councilman Vinny Palermo is on the market.

Following weeks of delays in his ongoing divorce the house is now listed, complete with an unusual 13th street selling point.

At the same time the judge has ordered that Palermo’s business will be getting a financial once-over.

As he sits in jail awaiting his federal sentencing in a scheme of kickbacks and fraud, former City Councilman Vinny Palermo’s South Omaha home is officially up for sale, all part of his ongoing divorce.

The asking price, according to Zillow, $650,000.

Among the selling points listed is a “brand new pool.” And one of Palermo’s kickbacks is tied to the pool.

According to prosecutors, a contractor who does work for the city, poured concrete for Palermo’s “pool deck” with Palermo receiving a “substantial discount” and paying the contractor “in cash to conceal” the deal.

The Palermo home was the scene of an FBI raid last December, which led to Palermo’s indictment and the Council’s unanimous vote to send Palermo packing, a vote one councilman struggled with.

Councilman Danny Begley (D): “In serving with Mr. Palermo for two years he was always helpful in making me a better Councilman, I will continue to pray for Vinny and his family.”

As for the house, it isn’t the only money-making part of the divorce that’s in play.

Palermo’s company, Vinny’s Tree Service, which is also tied to his conviction, is getting a divorce court, strip search.

The judge seeking a “fair market value for the company” ordering an investigation into “accounts receivable and payable…tax and other accounting,” and examining if “existing employees and independent contractors are operating in a businesslike and professional manner.”

In the meantime, Palermo’s sentencing in federal court has been delayed. Originally scheduled for November, it’s now set for January. The most likely sentence, 21 months in prison.

With time served and possible good behavior added in, his attorney says Palermo could be out late next year or early 2025.
