Give Where You Live sets new record for Kearney-area giving
KEARNEY, Neb. — Non-profits in the Kearney area are celebrating after their annual day of giving set a new record.
The Give Where You Live fundraising drive brought in $1,931,598 for the 188 organizations involved. The total came from 6,720 separate donations and easily eclipsed last year’s total of just under $1.6 million.
The top non-profit fundraiser was the Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department, which raised more than $150,000. 21 non-profits raised at least $25,000 and every group raised at least $150. The Kearney Area Community Foundation, which organizes the event, will provide a matching gift to each organization based on the percentage of total donation money it received.
