Despite a 'True Trumper" challenger him from the right, Republican Congressman Don Bacon is touting a big lead going into the May 14th primary.

Bacon says he’s up 50 points over Omaha businessman Dan Frei.

Frei supporters say the numbers can’t be believed.

Rep. Don Bacon, Nebraska 2nd (R): “I love all these folks that are out here with us…”

With the GOP primary less than a month away, Congressman Don Bacon is pushing the endorsements of what he calls more than “100 conservative Nebraska officials,” starting with Gov. Jim Pillen.

Gov. Jim Pillen, Nebraska (R): “We have to get Don Bacon in DC for years and years to come.”

Rep. Bacon: “At this point in the election cycle we’re in the strongest place we have ever been.”

Dan Frei, Candidate for Congress (R): “Here here's the deal.

Woman in crowd: “We pray you win.”

Frei: “ You know what we'll take all those prayers we can get. Folks, if you look at DC and what's coming out of there is driving you crazy, I’m the conservative alternative.”

Omaha businessman Dan Frei is challenging Bacon from the right. And Frei is a true Trumper.

Dan Frei, GOP Candidate for Congress: “I consider myself a huge fan of what Donald Trump has done for this nation and I'm very grateful for what Donald Trump has done for this nation with his policies and programs. So, if that makes me a Trumper, I'm a Trumper.”

Bacon is also backing Trump, sort of.

Rep. Bacon: “I'm going to support our nominee and I have a choice. Yes, you know it's not the perfect choice, but I think the border is the number one issue. I'm going to ask who can fix the border right, and who shows that they can do that, and he has.”

Jordan: “Let me make the case that you're in part you're supporting Trump in the election because if you don't you can't win the primary.”

Bacon: “I've always been an independent mind on the issues but the fact of the matter is the number one issue is the border.”

Jordan: “Do you really think you could win in the primary if you didn't support President Trump?”

Bacon: “You know I'm just trying to be myself, be candid. I believe in God, country, first over party.”

Frei: “We're currently $34 trillion in debt. I’ve asked our federal legislators how many trillion is too much before we stop, they haven't they haven't answered yet. Our borders are wide open and we're shipping hundreds of billions of dollars to other countries, that makes zero sense. So, if you're looking for somebody that's going to go to DC to get along and stay there forever, I'm not your guy. If you're looking for somebody that's going to go and ask the hard questions and do the right things and clear the future for your kids and grandkids, I'm that guy.”

10 years ago, Frei came up just short of upsetting then GOP Congressman Lee Terry in the 2014 GOP primary.

But Bacon is touting a poll of his own, that finds him well ahead, (69-19) 50 points ahead of Frei, some critics call it a push poll, a fraud.

Jordan: “Why do you need it, this show of support, if you’re that far ahead in the poll?”

Rep. Bacon: “I don’t take nothing for granted, Joe. I don’t walk through the tape in a race I sprint.”

The primary is May 14.
