Nebraska earns No. 2 seed, hosts NCAA Tournament rounds in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska volleyball team has been named the No. 2 overall seed for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship, marking their 43rd consecutive tournament appearance. The Huskers will host the first and second rounds at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Friday and Saturday.
Pittsburgh was the No. 1 overall seed, followed by the Huskers, Penn State and Louisville as the top four seeds.
Nebraska (29-2) will face SWAC champion Florida A&M (27-6) on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. CDT in their opening match. The earlier matchup, scheduled for 4:30 p.m., features ACC contender Miami (21-10) against Summit League champion South Dakota State (27-2). Winners from Friday’s games will compete in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. CDT.
The Huskers secured the No. 2 seed after clinching their 36th conference title and fifth Big Ten championship with a 19-1 league record. Nebraska’s postseason history includes five NCAA Championships, with the most recent titles in 2015 and 2017. The team aims for another Final Four berth, having reached the stage in six of the past nine seasons.
The NCAA Championship will take place Dec. 19-22 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, where Nebraska has already defeated No. 9 Kentucky on Aug. 27 and No. 4 Louisville on Sept. 22. .
Florida A&M, undefeated in SWAC play, last faced Nebraska in 2004, winning in Lincoln.
