WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Thursday, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood was named Chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing & Insurance for the House Financial Services Committee.

Flood was named into this position by House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill.

“It is an honor to lead the Subcommittee for Housing and Insurance," Flood said. "I am grateful to Chairman Hill for the opportunity to serve and I look forward to working with him and the entire committee as we kick off the 119th Congress. There’s important work to be done, as we seek solutions to America’s housing crisis and work to cut red tape, so that more Americans can access affordable and reliable insurance products that they need for financial safety and security."

The statement that was released said, Flood is a member of the House Financial Services Committee and Vice Chair of the Republican Main Street Caucus. 

“Rep. Flood comes from Nebraska, one of the leading insurance states in the country. As a Nebraskan, he understands the importance of ensuring Nebraskans and Americans have access to affordable housing credit, effective community development and that the federal housing programs are effective. Additionally, he will conduct oversight to ensure that our National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is the strongest that it can be. Flood will be an active and capable Housing and Insurance Subcommittee Chairman, and I look forward to working with him as a part of our Committee leadership team,” said Hill.
