NORFOLK, Neb. -- The City of Norfolk Parks and Recreation Division is thrilled to announce that it has received a generous $15,000 grant from the Kansas City Royals Foundation. This funding will directly support ongoing enhancements at the Kohler Softball Complex in Ta-Ha-Zouka Park.

“We just finished up the team lockers," said Nathan Powell, Parks and Recreation Director. "We're also redoing the backstops and redoing the press box as well. And creating some umpire rooms. These are important, and have great tournaments there at the park. We're excited about that. We have planned improvements across the way that will include 300 foot softball fields and those will also include the ability for baseball to be played on them as well because of the 300 foot So overall plan is to have a six field complex so we can have more activities going on there. We're excited to have that and we are thankful for the Kansas City Royals generous donation."

Powell said it is a slow progression as funds continue to come in, but for them to complete the three field complex, Parks & and Recreation needs $1 million. A specific date for completion has not been set but if funds come as planned, the public can expect the fields to be finished at the end of this year.
