UNADILLA - There was no shadow at 7:33 a.m. Sunday when Unadilla Billie prognosticated from Main Street. A shadow would mean six more weeks of winter, but no shadow means arrival of an early spring.

 

New Groundhog Day Queen Bev Wilhelm joined Bob Brandt at the Groundhog Capitol of Nebraska for the determination. One of Wilhelm’s former high school students, Ryan McIntosh,  is this year’s king.

Groundhog Central reports a record crowd of 700 to 760 for the parade on Saturday. The 30-minute parade featured 41 entries.

Nearly $18,000 was raised for fire and rescue and the community center, also a record.

 

Sen. Ricketts crowned the king and queen in MAL’s bar and Grill.
