LINCOLN, Neb. -- Two adults are dead and one teen is injured following a domestic violence incident in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department said they are investigating the fatal domestic violence incident that happened just after midnight Wednesday.

LPD said that with their early stage investigation, they believe it was a murder-suicide.

Authorities said they responded to a report of gunshots just after midnight to an apartment complex in the area of South 22nd and G Streets in southwest Lincoln.

The report came from a 13-year-old boy telling 911 he and his mother had been shot.

When LPD arrived, they said they found a 44-year-old Lincoln man dead on the bedroom floor.

They said he had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

LPD also found a 40-year-old woman with an apparent gunshot wound.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue took her to a local hospital where she ended up dying from her injuries.

The Police Department said that paramedics took the 13-year-old to a local hospital. He was reported to be in critical condition from an apparent gunshot wound.

The boy was immediately taken into surgery, and is expected to survive.
