SIDNEY — Eastbound Interstate 80 was temporarily closed at Sidney as crews perform construction work near Exit 59, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

The closure affects the stretch between Exit 59 (Sidney Link/Bridgeport) and mile marker 71. The closure was expected to remain in effect until around 12:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials say the closure was due to crane equipment being loaded in the construction zone. Eastbound traffic was being detoured to Highway 30.

Drivers are urged to follow posted detour signs and use caution in the area.
