Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Garden and Deuel Counties

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — May 14, 2025 — The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern Garden County and all of Deuel County in the Nebraska Panhandle. The warning is in effect until 7:15 p.m. MDT.
At 6:11 p.m., severe thunderstorms were moving east at 50 miles per hour along a line from near Gurley to near Paoli. Radar indicates these storms are producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
Damage to roofs, siding, and trees is possible. Locations in the path include Chappell, Oshkosh, Big Springs, and Lewellen, as well as historic and recreational areas like Ash Hollow State Historical Park, Bluewater Battlefield, and Windlass Hill.
Motorists should be alert along Highway 92 between mile markers 115 and 118, and along Interstate 80 between mile markers 78 and 107.
The National Weather Service described this as a dangerous situation, noting widespread wind damage reported across the southern Panhandle and northeast Colorado. Residents are urged to seek shelter immediately in a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
