POTTER -- Prairie Pines Golf Course is the recipient of a $5,000 donation from the Sidney And Greater Area (SAGA) Fund.

The funds will support expansion projects that will enhance community connections and engagement. This donation marks a significant milestone in Prairie Pines commitment to providing a welcoming venue for both residents and visitors in Potter, Nebraska.

“Prairie Pines Golf Course has been a central part of the Potter community for over three decades,” said Lori Biesecker, Treasurer of Prairie Pines Golf Board. “The support from the SAGA Fund will boost our ability to create experiences that bring people together, strengthening our local tourism and economy. We are incredibly excited and grateful to receive this generous support from the SAGA fund. This donation brings us one step closer to turning our vision into reality and expanding a space that truly reflects the spirit and togetherness of the Potter community.”

As Prairie Pines approaches its 35th Anniversary Celebration in 2026, the golf course is set to roll out three expansion projects designed to enrich experiences for golfers and community events alike. The first phase, slated for April 2025, includes an upgrade to the golf cart storage building, focusing on improved space, accessibility, and security for all users.

By September 2025, Phase 2 will see the addition of two new golf holes, extending the golfing experience through an enhanced layout that promises to delight golfers of all skill levels.

The standout of these initiatives is Phase 3, scheduled for completion by May 1, 2026, which will introduce a public community space complete with a charming gazebo. This area will serve as a hub for gatherings, celebrations, and relaxation, directly addressing the community's need for inclusive spaces that foster connections among residents and visitors.

Potter is a vibrant community with active members, and the expansion will provide much-needed gathering spaces, especially during busy local events and summer tourism seasons. The golf course's charm and affordability make it an attractive destination, welcoming both seasoned golfers and beginners, including young children.

The expansion projects will be executed through a collaborative effort involving local sponsorships, fundraisers, and the dedicated participation of volunteers and in-kind labor from local businesses, showcasing the communal spirit of Potter.
