Severe thunderstorm warning issued for southeastern Kimball County

KIMBALL — The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Kimball County in the Nebraska Panhandle.
The warning is in effect until 4:45 p.m. MDT Friday.
At 3:57 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles south of Kimball Municipal Airport, or about 12 miles south of Kimball, moving southeast at 25 mph.
The storm is producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to half-dollar size, according to radar data.
Hail damage to vehicles is expected, along with wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.
The storm is expected to impact mostly rural areas of southeastern Kimball County.
Residents are urged to seek shelter in a sturdy building and move to an interior room on the lowest floor.
