SIDNEY, Neb. – The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for parts of southeast Wyoming, western Nebraska and northeastern Colorado.

The watch includes the Nebraska counties of Banner, Box Butte, Cheyenne, Dawes, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, Deuel, Garden and Sioux; the Wyoming counties of Goshen, Laramie, Niobrara and Platte; and the Colorado counties of Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Weld.

Forecasters say severe thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon and evening across the region, with primary threats including large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, particularly in the southern Nebraska Panhandle.

In addition, there is a marginal risk for excessive rainfall, as multiple or training storms may lead to minor flooding or flash flooding in some areas.

Looking ahead, cooler and wetter conditions are expected Tuesday and Wednesday before a warming trend resumes Thursday through Saturday, with daily chances of late-day storms.
