LINCOLN, Neb. - While some areas of the state have put a ban or limit on fireworks for the Fourth of July, three State Recreation Areas in southeast Nebraska will allow fireworks for the upcoming holiday.

According to Nebraska Game and Parks, the beach at Wagon Train SRA (Lancaster County), Lieber's Point at Branched Oak Lake SRA (Raymond, NE.) and the beach and Area 4 lake view campground at Pawnee SRA (Lincoln) will allow fireworks on the Fourth of July only.

Signs at recreation areas will point the way to designated fireworks sites and their boundaries will be clearly marked. Use of fireworks elsewhere in state areas or at other times is prohibited.

Only fireworks approved for sale in Nebraska by the state fire marshal are permitted, and visitors must pick up expended fireworks and deposit them in appropriate containers. Game and Parks also recommends caution and suggests having a bucket of water or fire extinguisher nearby and to soak used fireworks in water before discarding them.

Minor children must be supervised when discharging fireworks. Use, possession and the discharging of fireworks is at the sole risk of the users.
