SIDNEY - The Sidney Lady Raiders and Red Raiders both turned in dominant performances Tuesday night, forcing the 40-point running clock in lopsided wins over the Sterling Tigers.

Sidney’s defense set the tone early, forcing 12 first-quarter turnovers and holding Sterling to just two free throws in the opening period. Kierra Schrader scored nine of her game-high 13 points in the first quarter as the Lady Raiders jumped out to a 20-2 lead after one.

Sidney Lady Raiders 56, Sterling Tigers 14

Sidney continued to build on the advantage, taking a 33-8 lead into halftime. The Lady Raiders opened the second half with a 17-2 run, and a Laramey Misegadis steal and layup triggered the 40-point running clock with 2:07 remaining in the third quarter at 50-10.

The Lady Raiders, who improve to 10-1 on the season, were led by Misegadis with 14 points and Schrader added 13. Sterling, now 6-2, was held to just four field goals in the game and was paced by freshman Karsyn Tonche with nine points.

Sidney Red Raiders 84, Sterling Tigers 45

Alek Doty wasted little time getting the Red Raiders started, knocking down a three-pointer just 47 seconds into the game. Doty added two more triples and scored 13 points in the first quarter as Sidney surged to a 29-10 lead after one.

Seven different Red Raiders scored in the second quarter, helping Sidney take a 46-24 advantage into halftime. Doty scored 10 more points in the third period as Sidney outscored Sterling 26-11, building a 72-35 lead heading into the fourth.

Lance Holly sank a pair of free throws with 6:42 remaining in the game to initiate the 40-point running clock at 76-35.

Sidney improves to 3-9 on the season and was led by Doty’s 25 points, with Kash Knobbe adding 13. Sterling falls to 2-6 and was led by Dayten Diorio’s 20 points.
