DOUGLAS COUNTY, Neb. — A man is in custody after deputies say he started a brush fire near a business in Douglas County.
Deputies were called around 7:30 p.m. Monday to the area of North 108th and McKinley.
When they arrived, they found a small brush fire and called Irvington Fire and Rescue to put it out.
Authorities say they spotted a man walking away from the area. Deputies gave him commands to stop, but say he did not listen.
Additional deputies arrived and took the man into custody. He was later identified as Joshua Grover, who initially gave a false name.
Officials say Grover became combative during booking, kicking and threatening deputies. One deputy was kicked multiple times.
Grover is facing charges of third-degree arson and assault on an officer.
The sheriff says quick action from deputies and firefighters helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes and businesses.
