LINCOLN — Lincoln dodged the worst part of this weekend’s snow storm but will see extreme wind chill values overnight.

Two to four inches of snow fell in the capital city on Saturday, giving residents their first need to clear driveways, sidewalks and streets this season. The accumulation totals fell under some of the projections from Friday, which said Lincoln could get as much as eight inches of snow. The National Weather Service said dry air caused snow to sublimate, or turn into water vapor, before reaching the surface.

Temperatures and wind chill values are still a threat for the metro in the evening and overnight. Most of eastern Nebraska is in a wind chill advisory until 9:00 Sunday morning. NWS forecasters say it could feel as cold as -21 in Lincoln and -25 in Beatrice overnight. Officials encourage people to delay snow removal until Sunday, limit outdoor activity and pack a winter survival kit if traveling.
