LINCOLN -- In 1997, Nebraskan Luke Craig was driving to his high school football practice when he suffered a near-fatal car accident, leaving him with traumatic brain injury.

It affects his ability to open doors; eat; walk safely; even create the graphic designs that he loves anymore.

Twenty-five years later, Craig's mother is fundraising to help him afford a service dog, which costs $14,000.

They've raised $5,000 through 57 donations --- many, strangers.

He's also hoping the dog will help him get back into art.

Luke and his mother will attend a 12-day training in June when he will meet his service dog at last.
