Conway: Ricketts confronted her, vowed to 'destroy' Herbster
Another shoe has fallen in the Herbster-Slama saga, this one from Kellyanne Conway one of former President Donald Trump’s closest advisors.
In an on-camera interview (see video above) Conway—while defending GOP statehouse hopeful Charles Herbster against sexual assault charges by State Sen. Julie Slama—described what she claims was a previously unreported face-to-face confrontation with Gov. Pete Ricketts.
According to Conway, ten months ago Ricketts told her that he would “destroy Charles Herbster and everyone around him.”
Ricketts has not yet responded to NCN’s request for comment.
As for Conway, she says despite the sexual assault accusations and Ricketts’ backing of NU Regent Jim Pillen, her polling finds Herbster in the lead with the primary less than three weeks away.
Conway goes on to note that several months after the allegations, Herbster gave Slama a $10,000 campaign contribution. The contribution has been confirmed by News Channel Nebraska.
At the same time, Conway also repeated Herbster’s claim that in 2019 he met with Slama to discuss her campaign for the Legislature, a meeting attended by former Gov. Dave Heineman.
But as News Channel Nebraska first reported, Heineman says he never attended a Herbster-Slama meeting.
