A key backer of school choice in Nebraska is among those fighting a push to keep money for public schools away from private schools.

As News Channel Nebraska reported earlier this week, the state teachers’ union is launching an ad campaign promoting public school teachers influencing the lives of everyday Nebraskans.

At the same time the Nebraska State Education Association acknowledges the ads are aimed at those favoring school choice.

But State Sen. Lou Ann Linehan, head of the powerful Revenue Committee, argued this week that the N-S-E-A continues to mislead Nebraskans and hurting children. “No family should be forced to send their children to a school that doesn’t work best for them or align with their values," said Linehan ”

Jeremy Ekeler of the Nebraska Catholic Conference adding, “We believe parents are the first and best decision makers when it comes to the education of their own children.”
