Metro gas prices still fluctuating
Current Metro Average: $3.61
We’re learning more about that recent jump in gas prices.
We told you last week that prices in the Metro were fluctuating widely, and that trend continues.
Experts are telling us that a refinery fire and shut down in Ohio, has fueled some of the current increases, quite likely this station in LaVista which is running at $3.59 a gallon.
But a 20-minute drive west of Omaha finds gas at $3.39.
Overall we’re told the average price of gas in and around Omaha is $3.61, up nearly 18 cents from last week’s $3.43. Two weeks ago it was $3.54.
And there’s a good chance the ups and downs are not going away, at least in the near future, as hurricanes like Ian which has left Cuba and is heading for Florida’s Gulf shore tend to add plenty of volatility to oil and gas prices.
