Planned Parenthood leader running for Legislature in 2024
Lawyer looking to succeed Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne, who is term limited and unable to run again.
With abortion looming large over the current session of the Nebraska Legislature a key player on the pro-choice side of the issue is running for the state senate in 2024.
Attorney Tracy Hightower-Henne, a Democrat, is looking to succeed term limited Sen. Justin Wayne in District 13 which takes up parts of north and northeast Omaha.
Hightower-Henne, who describes herself as a community activist and advocate for reproductive freedom, currently serves as Board Chair of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Nebraska.
Other issues she is targeting include, "strong well-funded schools, better paying jobs, housing that is affordable for working families, and affordable and accessible healthcare for everyone."
Hightower-Henne was also the Executive Director of the Nebraska Innocence Project where she says she fought for the "rights of the wrongly convicted."
