OMAHA, Neb. -- A sentence of 10 years was given to a man from Mexico for drug-related charges.

U.S. Attorney Steven Russell said 31-year-old Neri Mendoza-Rodriguez was sentenced in federal court in Omaha on March 10. He was charged for his participation in a methamphetamine and fentanyl drug conspiracy. Mendoza-Rodriguez will serve 120 months in prison with a five-year term of supervised release after. There is no parole in the federal system. Mendoza-Rodriguez is subject to deportation to Mexico by U.S. immigration authorities when he completes his sentence.

According to court documents, a confidential source (CS) contacted Mendoza-Rodriguez in March 2021 to set up the purchase of meth. The CS met with Mendoza-Rodriguez and Mendoza-Rodriguez’s cousin, Rigoberto Madrid-Morga, and successfully bought 399.78 grams of pure meth on April 5, 2021.

Officials said the CS discussed buying M-30 fentanyl pills from Mendoza-Rodriguez. Mendoza-Rodriguez confirmed he had fentanyl pills available, and on April 29, 2021, Madrid-Morga delivered 106.79 grams of fentanyl to the CS in Omaha.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
