BEATRICE - Beatrice bounced back from Tuesday's 11-3 loss to Seward with a 7-0 win over Fairbury on Tuesday afternoon.

After a pair of 1-2-3 innings at the plate, the Orangemen turned it on in the third inning -- with two outs in the third, Collin Mangnall drilled a 2-RBI single into left field to open the scoring. Beatrice plated three more in that inning with a Deegan Nelson RBI double and a series of hit by pitches drove in another. Hitting wise, the third was where the Orangemen did most of their damage, totaling five of their seven runs and 4 of their seven hits in the inning.

On the pitching side, the youth movement was very much on display. Nolan Schmale got the start on the mound and pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit, and striking out seven. Austin Baldwin, who also drove in two runs at the plate, pitched the remaining three frames, shutting out the Jeffs, and striking out six.

With the win, Beatrice improves to 4-1, and takes on the defending Class B champion Elkhorn North Wolves on Thursday.
