State Capitol not immune from NE's broadband blunders

New committee chair notes better internet access needed across the state

The state’s continuing problems with internet access took center stage on the floor of the Legislature today.

The lack of solid border-to-border broadband hitting as lawmakers voted in a new Chairman of the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee.

Republican State Sen. Mike Moser, getting the nod over fellow Republican Tom Brandt and Democrat Wendy DeBoer.

Moser, current vice-chair of the committee, noting internet dead zones in the state where you might least expect them.

"Broadband and cell access even in [the State Capitol] needs some work," said the former mayor of Columbus.

The top slot on the committee opened up recently when State Sen. Suzanne Geist resigned from the Legislature to devote more time to her run for mayor of Lincoln.
