Gas prices have been ticking up a bit this year, according to experts that is largely due to a lack of Russian oil due to the war in Ukraine and inflation in the U.S.
But we’re also seeing the price of gas in the Metro ticking down slightly in recent days.
According to AAA, the national average for regular gas is $3.57, a lot less though in and around Omaha.
Right now, regular in the Metro is $3.13, down from $3.18 a week ago and $3.23 a month ago.
Last year at this time regular was running $4.78 a gallon.
The experts aren’t clear as to how long this arguably cheap gas will last, as OPEC has reportedly been beginning a move to slash production which should lead to higher prices.
