GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The former director of a central Nebraska daycare has turned himself in after authorities say he stole more than a $100,000 from his own daycare.

According to court documents, St. Paul’s Cornerstone Early Learning Center’s former director, Andrew Moss, voluntarily turned himself in on Tuesday.

Moss was fired from the daycare in October after being charged with theft-unlawful taking of $5,000 or more.

According to the affidavit, the bank alerted members of the board at Cornerstone that their bank account was at a negative balance.

Staff said they found numerous suspicious transactions including over $50,000 in ATM withdrawals, as well as over $97,000 in VISA gift card purchases.

Police said Moss took more than $150,000 from the daycare. They are still investigating and believe the amount will rise.

Moss has been lodged in Hall County Department of Corrections. His preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 5th.
