Top ten national golf finishes for two Nebraska community colleges

BEATRICE – Two Nebraska community college men’s golf teams have finished in the top ten, at the NJCAA Division Two golf tournament in Indiana.
Northeast Community College of Norfolk finished seventh, among 22 teams competing….while Southeast Community College finished ninth. A solid fourth and final round moved the Southeast Bobcats up four spots in the team standings.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won its second consecutive team title, finishing a single shot ahead of Illinois Central….and 12 shots in front of South Mountain Community College of Arizona. Kirkwood Community College, of Iowa finished another shot back in fourth place.
Individually, Stanley Campbell of Mississippi Gulf Coast won the title at five-under par, two shots in front of Reid Hall, of Kirkwood…who was at three-under. Trey Boecker finished in third, another shot back at minus-two.
Only three players shot under par for the 72-hole tournament.
For Northeast Community College, Tyler Baumchen finished 15th, at 12-over par, with a final round score of even-par. For Southeast Community College, Mads Svenson finished tied for 26th, at plus-15. Also for Southeast, Nick Fleming finished 37th at 19-over-par, which included a final round of one-under-par. Northeast’s Luke Bonser finished tied for 41st at 20-over-par. Prestin Vilai for SCC finished 51st, at plus-23….Northeast’s Gunther Soltvedt tied for 62nd, at plus-26…..and Trey Baehr for the Southeast Bobcats finished tied for 70th, at plus-27.
A total of nearly 140 golfers competed at Swan Lake Resort Golf Course, in Indiana.
