Smith recalls Afghanistan as Mideast concerns grow

President Biden’s handling of the U.S. pull-out from Afghanistan finds Congressman Adrian Smith skeptical of the Administration’s response to the recent killings of three American soldiers in the Mideast.
The President said yesterday that he’s decided what he’ll do, but did not release any details.
NCN’s Joe Jordan spoke with Congressman Smith about that response as well as the ongoing crisis at the southern border.

Rep. Adrian smith, Nebraska (R): “The President said he would do the pull-out from Afghanistan exactly the same way and that's not what's the American people wanted to hear.”
Joe Jordan, NCN: “You said you want to see the Administration make an appropriate response. What do you think that appropriate response is?”
Rep. Smith: “At this point I would hesitate to say but to have things like this go openly unanswered I think is very problematic. There has been such skepticism of the Administration ever since the disastrous pull-out from Afghanistan
Jordan: “Regarding the border, President Biden has said OK his deal and he'll shut the border, close the border down immediately. Isn’t that what you want?”
Rep. Smith: “I would like to see the President take action at the border, but what’s not getting the discussion that it should be getting right now is how much authority President Biden already has to tighten the border.”
