Omaha Police tell us that an investigation is underway into the shooting deaths of two men at the hands of two off-duty Omaha police officers.

It happened at two o’clock this morning in South Omaha.

According to police the shooting, in an alleyway near 32nd and L Streets, came during a disturbance involving a firearm, when two men were hit by the officers’ gunfire.

The men were taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries and later died.

According to police, a gun was found inside the men's SUV.

The officers were not injured and have been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation proceeds.

Police also tell us that there is some video of the incident, captured on an officer’s body worn camera as well as “area surveillance footage.”

The two men have been identified as 26-year-old Fernando Rodriguez-Juarez,, and J28-year-old Jonathan Hernandez-Rosales.

The names of the officers have not yet been released.
