As he runs for election Sen. Pete Ricketts is upping the ante when it comes to illegal immigration.

He’s now pushing for a “full impeachment trial” for President Biden’s top man on the border.

Republicans are accusing Democrats of planning to table the House’s impeachment vote, effectively killing it.

Sen. Pete Ricketts, Nebraska (R): “In the private sector, if someone is failing in their job, they are held accountable.”

Senator Pete Ricketts is taking on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, for his handling of the southern border.

Ricketts joining dozens of Senate Republicans urging that Mayorkas stand trial in the Senate, following his impeachment in the GOP controlled House.

Democrats call the move pure politics, without merit.

Meanwhile Mayorkas argues his budget is big dollars short.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas: "Every day, the 268,000 men and women of the Department of Homeland Security carry out our mission to protect the safety and security of the American people. They protect our shores, harbors skies cyber space orders and leaders. They stop fentanyl and other deadly drugs from entering our country. They lead the response to maritime emergencies. As we speak, they are engaged in the response of the tragic Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore."….All this despite a perennially insufficient budget, the dedicated public servants of DH S deserve full support and the American people deserve the results of fully resourced. DHS can deliver."

Sen. Ricketts: “President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas have had the same tools President Trump did when he brought illegal border crossings to a 45-year low. But instead, we have a national security, humanitarian, and drug catastrophe at our southern border. These policies have largely been carried out by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. There have been more than 9.2 million people either who tried to cross the border illegally or succeeded in crossing the border since Mayorkas was sworn in. More than Trump and Obama’s presidencies combined.”

Despite Ricketts plea for a Senate trial, there is no indication that the Democratic controlled Senate would convict Mayorkas.
