The 2-car crash was here, an isolated part of Douglas County, just northwest of Omaha.

35-year-old Joshua Kuhl is accused of motor vehicle homicide and driving drunk last February.

Authorities say he blew this stop sign, his pick-up plowing into 4 people in an SUV, killing 69-year-old Gary Smith of Norfolk.

According to an affidavit by the arresting officer, Kuhl’s eyes were “red and watery” and when asked how much he had to drink Kuhl said, “enough” and tested more than twice the legal limit.

According to court records Kuhl, who is in jail held on a $1 million bond, recently asked a Douglas County judge for a lower bond and to be allowed into treatment, the lower bond was denied. Police tell us Kuhl has two previous drunk driving convictions.

Kuhl is due back in court later this week.

A trial date has not been set, he’s facing up to at least 50 years in prison.
