Outdoor burning not recommended Monday across Nebraska Panhandle region

SIDNEY - A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday as critical fire weather conditions develop across the Nebraska Panhandle, southeast Wyoming and northeast Colorado.
The National Weather Service warns gusty west winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, combined with humidity levels dropping to as low as 10 percent, will create extreme fire danger throughout the region.
Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and any activity that could produce sparks, as any fires that ignite will spread rapidly under these conditions. The warning replaces the Fire Weather Watch previously issued and signals an increased threat of dangerous wildfires.
The NWS says a strong storm system is expected to move across the Central Plains on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing strong winds, colder temperatures and potential snowfall. While snow accumulations remain uncertain, areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility could create hazardous travel conditions.
